Comprehensive psychological/psychoeducational evaluations

Assessments are designed to try to obtain a comprehensive picture of your child's strengths and weaknesses often addressing questions related to learning, cognition, behavior, interpersonal relationships and/or processing skills.  Evaluations may include review of records, testing, interviews, rating scales and observation (e.g., classroom observation). 

 

  • CLINICAL AND EDUCATIONAL DIAGNOSES: evaluations will consider DSM-V clinical (Diagnostic & Statistical Manual - Fifth Edition) and educational diagnoses (related to special education eligibility). Areas of expertise include AD/HD (Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder), learning disabilities, autism spectrum disorder and emotional/behavioral disabilities (e.g., depression and oppositional defiant disorders).

 

  • REVIEW OF RESULTS & WRITTEN REPORT: A meeting will be held once the evaluation is complete in order to review findings and recommendations. A written report of the evaluation results and outcomes will also be provided and can be utilized for collaboration with schools, doctors and/or other outside agencies.

 

  • TYPES OF EVALUATIONS:

                 -Psychoeducational/Psychological Evaluations: (e.g, AD/HD and autism spectrum disorder)

                 -Independent Educational Evaluations (IEE)

                 -Functional Behavioral Asessments (FBA)

 

 

Advocate/Consultant

  • SST & IEP meetings:  Attend meetings at the schools (e.g., SST and IEP) to review findings and provide support and guidance regarding service options available.   Continuity across settings is imperative in success of interventions, and the focus would be to help foster a collaborative working relationship with the school staff. 

 

  • Expert witness:  mediations and hearings

 

  • Consultation regarding FAQs such as AD/HD, giftedness, 504 plans, special education, behavioral interventions, and retention vs. promotion.
